In recognition of John Pytel’s ongoing dedication to providing and continually improving a high quality disc golf course that serves our community through its availability for play, hosting of tournaments and structured leagues, along with exceptional amenities and hospitality, the ODGC is offering $1000 in support to the Ettyville Disc Golf Course.
This year, for the second time since 2015, Ettyville will host the Ontario Provincial Disc Golf Championships, an event that will showcase the newly expanded facility which features two full championship-level
A huge effort began in 2019 to upgrade Ettyville from 27 to 36 holes. The amount of work, materials, and resources required to realizing these improvements is staggering.
It should be underlined that in the Covid-restricted times we are experiencing in 2020, Ettyville has stepped up as a true lifeline for the Ottawa disc golf community. The overwhelming majority of all structured disc golf in the Ottawa area in 2020 has take place at Ettyville. Since allowing access in May, the course is offering three different weekly organized disc golf sessions, it hosted a Canada Day Flex tournament, and has the Outaouais Open, Ontario Provincials and the Pelican Cup on its 2020 schedule. As of now, the Plaid Jacket is the only other local event scheduled elsewhere in 2020.
Financial support at the $500 level would have qualified the ODGC as a Provincials’ tournament course sponsor, with a presence on the course website, in tournament-related media, and permanent hole signage.
As part of the preparations for hosting Provincials, the full complement of 36 baskets will be outfitted with a matching set of top band wraps. On these bands, the new ODGC logo will feature in the graphics, making visible our Club's stake in supporting Ettyville.
The ODGC felt it was appropriate to exceed the course sponsor level and contribute a full $1000, since the level of infrastructure upgrades at Ettyville are exceptional and generous and unquestionably deserve our support in the same spirit. Most importantly, the ODGC is honored to have a presence and a positive affiliation with the Ettyville course. Truly, ODGC members have enjoyed great benefits from being able to disc golf at Ettyville.
Finally, we wish John Pytel all the best for his continued efforts and endeavours as he develops and grows the Ettyville property for disc golf, and we at the ODGC feel proud to contribute to this development and show our appreciation that this first-rate local course is made available for all to enjoy.
We’ll see you out there.
